Lena Headey, slated to appear in “300: Rise of an Empire,” gave a recent interview about the “300” sequel.
“It’s different in that Zack [Snyder] didn’t direct it, so it’s a very different feeling. But the film, visually, follows on very much from the original. It’s something that’s so beloved for its physicality and visceral content. I had fun; I got to hold a sword,” she told Total Film this week.
Headey, who stars in HBO’s “Game of Thrones” and appeared in “Dredd,” will again play Queen Gorgo in “Rise of an Empire,” which hits theaters in 2014.
She said that Gorgo is involved in much of the action.
“Yeah! I love all that, I’m such a boy! They’re like, ‘Do you want to come to fight training?’ I’m like, ‘Yes!’”she told TF.
“Rise of an Empire,” directed by Noam Murro, centers on the vengeance wrought upon the Persians by the Greeks for the death of Leonidas.
It mainly focuses on the fight between Persian god-king Xerxes, his armies, and Greece, which is led by Themistokles and Artemisia, according to The Global Dispatch. The battle takes place at sea, which will provide another element.
