NEW YORK—The fourth day of New York Fashion Week Fall 2014 Collection was an ideal sunny Sunday with clear skies. Fortunately, the day’s lightness didn’t fade as we entered the dark Saloon of Lincoln Center where Lela Rose show was about to start.

The collection is sure to be a guide to layers on the fashion horizon. It started with down to Earth grey cotton moving to shimmering, lightweight silk robes.

There were feathers too, borrowing some art-deco inspiration, making the collection even more airy. While some models floated in light silk dresses sweeping the ground, matching satin suits in royal blue offered a feminine way of wearing slim trousers.

Shimmering details such as embroidered crystals and shiny fabrics added to the collection’s feeling of unearthly lightness. Small crystals even made their way onto models’ faces.

Long elegant dresses with cropped, see-through tops and embroidered crystals exemplify how Lela Rose’s play with layers, has given classical evening attire a completely new look.

Bringing the collection back to the Earth was some good-old peplum and 1950s-shaped dresses. It seemed like this trend didn’t want to leave the runway. But what’s sure, the next fall season we’ll see glamor femininity with a shimmer.
