When Georgia mandated every agency cut six percent from its budget, the Georgia Court of Appeals laid off nine staff members, including attorney Katherine Durant. She told the Fulton County Daily Report she had daydreamed for years about having her own practice. She opened the Law Offices of M. Katherine Durant to provide a boutique service for Georgia lawyers. ‘I can help them save face with their client and their mal- practice carrier.’ Durant started her career with Long, Aldridge & Norman, and then joined Greenwald, Salo & Sheftall. She joined the public sector in 1993, working for the Resolution Trust Corp. for three years.
