“Law & Order: UK” series 8 is wrapping up on Wednesday night and fans are wondering about a season 9.
There hasn’t been an official announcement by ITV as of yet, so nothing is for sure.
However, the viewing figures are still strong for the series. It premiered in 2009 with almost seven million viewers, dipped a bit in season 2, and went under five million for most episodes in season 3, and evened out around four million per episode in season 4.
The show began picking up again in season 5, garnering over five million for the first several episodes, and even more in season 6, where each episode got over five million viewers.
The figures dipped back down again in season 7 under five million, and even further in season 8, to about 4.3 million on average.
The series still seems to have at least another season, if not more, in the future, since the numbers haven’t dropped too drastically.
The storyline is still strong, as well. The new character DI Elizabeth Flynn was introduced in the series 8 finale after the death of Wes Layton, and the team is under a lot of pressure. Ronnie might even be fired after decades on the force.
All this is to say that things are looking good for another series of Law & Order: UK.
