Lamb Of God Rocks Out Roseland Ballroom One Last Time

When heavy metal band Lamb of God headlined at Roseland Ballroom on October 25, it was a night to remember. The band has played at this venue over the years and each time, the crowd erupts and the floor enlarges for the mosh pit.

At some point during their hour set, the floor was opened up enough to have two different kinds of mosh pits, one metal pit where people slam into each other and a hardcore pit where people dance by swinging their arms erratically.

Lamb of God performed many of their hits including: “Redneck,” “Laid to Rest,” and “Walk With Me in Hell.”

Lead Singer Randy Blythe expressed his disappointment of the fact that Roseland ballroom is closing down to which the audience began to jeer.

Roseland Ballroom on West 52nd Street and Broadway have been home to thousands of musical acts since the 1950’s. Bands like The Rolling Stones, Nirvana, Korn, Green Day, Metallica and artists such as Beyoncé, Fiona Apple and Madonna have performed to sell-out crowds over the years.

Roseland is known for its versatility as it converts into a dance hall, a dinner palace and grand birthday parties.

On October 19, Billboard announced that Roseland Ballroom, once a skating rink, would shut down in April 2014. The reasons for this closure remain unclear and no official announcement from the Ginsberg family has been made.

Metalcore five piece Killswitch Engage co-headlined with Lamb of God and provided a set that consisted of songs of their latest record: Disarm The Descent.

With their original vocalist Jesse Leach back with the band, they belted out fan favorites “The End of Heartache,” “My Last Serenade,” “My Curse” and “Rose of Sharyn.” The band performed a cancer benefit show at Santos Party House two weeks before.

Along for this show included Heavy Metal veterans Testament and relative newcomer Huntress who are already getting buzz with their sophomore album, Starbound Beast.

What made this heavyweight lineup special is the realization that this is the last metal show Roseland could ever have before shutting down next year.

Currently, there are acts that are lined up to perform at Roseland through February 2014 like Panic At The Disco, Jessie Ware, Vamps, Hoodie Allen and New World Punx.

As of right now, this could be the last chance to sit and relax on the side of the stage or jump up and down the floor before the elimination of Roseland will leave you with one less option of venues to go to.
