Lake ice needles: A witness filmed ice needles forming on the shores of a frozen lake in Minnesota during warm spring weather.
Possibly millions of ice needles appeared on the edge of Medicine Lake, according to a video that was posted by KARE-11 News.
Temperatures in the area are in the 70s but included strong winds, which pushed the ice sheet over the lake to its shore.
The Daily Telegraph pointed out that lake ice needles form when the soil’s temperature is above 32 degrees Fahrenheit and the surface temperature is below 32 degrees.
