Pop star Lady Gaga and jazz icon Tony Bennett performed cheek to cheek in aid of WellChild at The Royal Albert Hall on June 8th. Prince Harry attended as patron of the charity. Tuesday night’s performance was cancelled after Tony Bennett was taken ill.

Every day and night Lady Gaga’s adoring “Little Monsters” wait patiently outside her London hotel for her to leave. Her fans shout her name “Gaga” as she walks among them with burly security on either side. In front, throngs of “paparazzi” photographers capture her image. Gaga posted a few words on Instagram after leaving for the Royal Albert Hall: “During all the long car rides, I dream about my former life. Walking freely down the streets. And then, in a moment I am deeply grateful. With all this attention now, what will I say? How will I change the world? What will my music contribute to humanity?” Gaga’s message reminded me that a number of years ago a PR lady came out as I was about to leave an event and said, “Would you wait a little longer, there’s a pop singer coming called Lady Gaga, she’s going to be really famous.” That night I waited; I photographed Lady Gaga for the very first time.
