Kyra Sedgwick’s role as Deputy Chief Brenda Johnson in TNT’s The Closer has earned her an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series on Sunday evening.
Sedgwick, 45, earned her first Emmy after being nominated five times since 2006.
In 2007, she won the Best Actress Golden Globe Award for her lead role in The Closer.
Sedgwick defeated five fellow nominees: Julianna Margulies of The Good Wife, January Jones of Mad Men, Glenn Close of Damages, Mariska Hargitay of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and Connie Britton of Friday Night Lights.
The 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Fallon, is taking place at Nokia Theatre LA Live in downtown Los Angeles on Aug. 29.
