Kristen Stewart’s new movie is requiring the 23-year-old “Twilight” actress to gain more weight at the director’s behest.
A source on the film set told Yahoo that she’s been gaining weight for the role in “Sils Maria,” directed by Olivier Assayas.
According to the source, Assayas did not want her to look like a prototypical Hollywood actress. Instead, the source claims, he wants Stewart to appear “dowdy and puffy.”
Stewart said that she plays the assistant to Juliette Binoche’s character
‘'It takes two very particular people to have that relationship be functional - one that services the other - because Juliette Binoche is playing the actress that I assist, and she is one of the most powerful women I think I’ve ever seen in film,” Stewart told WWD.
Assayas explained the movie.
“I wanted to do a sort of portrait of an actress in her 40s, and I thought it would be more interesting to set it in the theater, because it gets rid of the material constraints of cinema,” he told WWD. “It’s about that very fine line between reality and imagination — actors are always somewhere in between.”
