The New York Knicks acquired point guard Raymond Felton Saturday in a sign-and-trade transaction with the Portland Trail Blazers.
The Knicks sent forward Jared Jeffries and center Dad Gadzuric to the Blazers for former Knicks Kurt Thomas and the aforementioned Felton.
Felton, who averaged 17.1 points and 9.0 assists in half a season in New York in the 2010-11 season, is now signed for a three-year deal worth $10 million.
With legendary point guard Jason Kidd already signed on, the deal may send the clearest signal yet that the Knicks will be unable to match the offer sheet signed by Jeremy Lin with Houston that’s for three years and $25 million. The Knicks have until 11:59 P.M. Tuesday night to match the deal which includes a third-year salary of $14.898 million.
