Carmelo Anthony scored 27 points on 10-of-18 shooting Sunday to lead the New York Knicks (2-0) to a 100–84 win over visiting Philadelphia (1-1).

J.R. Smith scored 20 points in 35 minutes off the bench, including four three-pointers in five attempts. The Knicks hit 11 threes on the day and led nearly the entire way, trailing only at 2–0.

Early in the first quarter, new point guard Jason Kidd hit a three-pointer to help ignite a 17–8 run that put the Knicks in the driver’s seat. Included in the run were a trio of three-pointers. Kidd finished with 12 points, 6 assists, and 3 steals.

Philadelphia point guard Jrue Holliday led the Sixers with 27 points, while Evan Turner had 11 along with 11 rebounds. Philadelphia center Andrew Bynum, out with a knee injury, did not play.
