Knicks power forward Amare Stoudemire is out for Game 3, Thursday night, in the team’s first-round playoff series against the Miami Heat with a cut hand, according to a report on the NBA’s website.
According to the report Stoudemire cut the hand by hitting a fire extinguisher case in a hallway of American Airlines Arena following the Knicks 104–94 loss to Miami Monday night.
The cut is on the left hand of the right-handed shooting Stoudemire and required stitches afterward. Stoudemire, who had 18 points and 7 rebounds in the loss, left the arena with his arm in a sling and his availability for Game 4 on Sunday is doubtful.
Without Stoudemire the Knicks will most likely shift Carmelo Anthony to the power forward position and play a combination of J.R. Smith and Steve Novak at small forward.
