The New York Knicks have signed guard Ronnie Brewer to a one-year deal, according to a report on the NBA’s website.
Brewer, 27, played last season in Chicago, starting 43 of 66 games and averaging 6.9 points per game for the Bulls who were upset in the first round of the playoffs.
The Arkansas-alum Brewer was a first-round choice for Utah in 2006 (14th overall) and had two of his best seasons, scoring-wise, with the Jazz in 2007 and 2008, averaging 12.0 and 13.7 points per game respectively.
Considered a better defensive player than offensive, Brewer is expected to compete with J.R. Smith for play at the shooting guard position this next season for the Knicks.
