Kim Kardashian safely returned to New York City after she was robbed at gunpoint in Paris during the early hours of Oct. 3.
Kardashian, her husband Kanye West, her mother Kris Jenner, and Jenner’s longtime companion Corey Gamble were photographed by a sea of paparazzi as they entered their Manhattan residence. The four were flanked by New York City police officers and more than 15 bodyguards.
It was reported that Kardashian was home alone when robbers dressed as police officers forced their way into a luxury Paris residence at the 8th arrondissement. Once inside, the pair reportedly gagged, tied, and locked Kardashian in a bathroom, and then stole more than $11 million in jewelry, two cell phones, and a wallet with $1,000 in cash.
Sources told E! News that Kardashian pleaded with the men to spare her life. She is the mother of two children, her 3-year-old daughter North and 10-month-old son Saint. The children were said to be in New York City at the time of the armed heist.
Publicist Ina Treciokas said Kardashian was “badly shaken but physically unharmed” after the incident.
The gunmen reportedly fled the scene on bicycles and are still being sought by local police.
“Everything is being done to solve this case and arrest those responsible,” said Paris police, according to The Local France. Special unit officers from the Banditry Repression Brigade (BRB) are investigating the incident.
Kardashian, a social media influencer, is known for her online postings. During the Paris Fashion Week, she documented her outings in a series of Instagram posts to her 80 plus million followers. In one post, she sports a glistening diamond ring on her left ring finger. It was reported the photographed ring was taken in the home invasion.
The incident drew a mixed reaction from Twitter users, with some refusing to feel sorry for the starlet, given her wealth. Model Chrissy Teigen came to her defense, reprimanding those who lacked empathy.
“Some [expletive] just isn’t funny. I see you trying, but it isn’t,” Teigen wrote. “Fame is interesting. Celebs are supposed to love you guys while also knowing you'd make a meme of our dead bodies to get retweets.”
