Kenya’s second-largest city, Mombasa, was put on red alert after the deadly attack on a mall in Nairobi on Saturday.

Mombasa County Commissioner Nelson Marwa told the Daily Nation that patrols have been ramped up in all six districts.

“Right now, Changamwe, Mvita, Likoni, Kisauni, Nyali and Jomvu are under surveillance of security agencies to ensure no attack of whatever magnitude takes place there,” he said.

The attack in Nairobi has killed at least 39 people and wounded over 150 others.

Any group planning an attack received a warning from Marwa.

“We are ready to deal with any kind of attack from criminal or terrorist groups operating within the region,” he said. “Let nobody dare us because we are ready for any eventuality here (Mombasa) and elsewhere in the region.”
