Keith Thurman and Julio Diaz fight on April 26, with Diaz trying to win Thurman’s interim WBA World welterweight title.
The fight will take place at StubHub Center in Carson, California.
The fight will be shown on Showtime and live streaming will be available through BoxNation. It’s slated to start at 9:30 p.m. EDT (1:30 a.m. GMT on Sunday).
Thurman, 25, of Clearwater, Florida is 22-0.
Diaz, 34, or Jiquilpan, Mexico, is 40-9-1.
Diaz has a slight height advantage (5‘8“ vs 5’7 1/2”) but Thurman has a slightly longer reach (69“ vs 68”).
Thurman is going into the fight confident and excited.
“What excites me most is being in the main event. They could have put me on other cards as a co-feature, but this shows me respect and I want to thank Golden Boy for that,” Thurman told BoxingNews24.
“Every fighter has to take it one fight at a time, and I’m going in on Saturday to do my job. Winning on Saturday is obviously very important. Others in my division are already name-fighters, but I’m just starting to build mine I’m still coming up in the world of boxing. So this is a chance for me to show that I’m not like all other.”
