Actor Keanu Reeves has always been an iconoclast among the ranks of garish Hollywood idols—whether it be giving brand-new Harley Davidson motorcycles to stuntmen of “The Matrix: Reloaded” or giving up his seat for a woman on a crowded New York subway, the actor has redefined stardom as one who stays connected with the real world.

At a recent press conference in Berlin, Germany, for the promotion of his new film “John Wick 3,” alongside director Chad Stahelski, Reeves showed once again why he’s one of the most respected people in show business, brushing off a rude host to connect directly with fans.

The incident highlighted Reeve’s sense of decency, which has won him respect worldwide.

At a recent meeting with the press, Reeves received a particularly memorable encounter with a German celebrity news journalist named Laura Von Salt. “It’s not really a question, it’s something really personal,” she prefaced. “Because my son is called Neo and my husband is called Constantine, and you’re his man crush.”

Von Salt asked if she could take some photos with Reeves after the press conference was over, to which he responded, “Yeah, no problem.” In respect for the actor’s schedule, the host of the event tried to mediate the special request, but Reeves graciously affirmed his promise would be fulfilled. The host had no choice but to allow the respected star to honor the photo request.

Afterward, Reeves took time to chat with Von Salt and even waited until her husband could make it over with their young son. During the photoshoot, all the members of the family were clearly delighted to be with Reeves. Von Salt posted their “Matrix family photo” on her Instagram account, describing how generous he had been with his time. “Neo even managed to make him laugh,” she noted.

A copy of the video clip showing how kind Reeves had been to all those who wanted to take personal pictures with him went viral on Facebook, with over 90,000 people viewing it and over 40,000 of those sharing it. For many social media users, it illustrated Reeves’s decency. As one commenter put it, “I think the other big stars should take a leaf out of Keanu’s book.”

Another admitted, “I don’t know much about this man but whenever I see a story on him it’s always a good, inspiring and humble one.”

Another remarkable anecdote tells of how Reeves went out of his way to make a fan’s dream come true in Slidell, Louisiana, near the set of “Bill & Ted Face the Music” (2020). One of the film’s producers saw a yard sign, reading “You’re breathtaking”—a meme from Reeves’s speech to a video-gaming conference—and notified the actor, who drove to the fan’s house and amended the poster to read “Stacey, You’re breathtaking,” recognizing the mother of the boys who put up the sign, and then took a picture in the hot Louisiana weather with the whole family.

“What you read about him being such a great person with a great heart is true,” Stacey later told CNN.
