Kate Middleton and Prince William paid a visit to Centrepoint’s Camberwell Foyer, a facility for homeless youth in South London on Dec. 21.

Ever the fashion icon, the duchess wore a belted olive-green turtleneck sweater-dress from Ralph Lauren’s Blue Label line and a pair of knee-high black boots. She finished the look with long and bouncy waves courtesy of her hair stylist Richard Ward, according to the U.K.’s Mirror.com, which also mentioned her knack for recycling her wardrobe.

Though perfectly dressed, the Duchess of Cambridge was not afraid to don an apron and bake low-fat mince pies and gingerbread cookies with the youth at the shelter.

She even made a special heart-shaped cookie covered in sprinkles for a chef’s birthday.

The national charity Centrepoint offers housing and support to improve the lives of homeless individuals ages 16–25.

“The duchess is using the next few months to get to know a number of charitable and other causes better, so she can make well-informed decisions about her future role. The duchess plans to meet a wide range of people and make private visits,” an anonymous official said in The International Business Times.

Like the late Princess Diana, the duchess has shown interest in veterans, the homeless, conservation, and at-risk young people.

Also following in Diana’s footsteps, Kate is known for her classical style and natural elegance, particularly in the Alexander McQueen gown she wore the day before at the Sun Military Awards in London.

Plus she’s not afraid of getting a little dirty in her royal clothing—especially for a worthy cause!
