Kate Middleton and Prince William may be expecting twins, according to the latest reports.
A source allegedly told the National Enquirer tabloid that the royal couple are are possibly expecting two babies.
“While the official announcement said Kate was expecting another little prince or princess, it’s possible she’s actually carrying twins,” the source said.
“That’s because an ultrasound test performed around the six-week mark of her pregnancy indicated the presence of two heartbeats!”
Baby Centre, an organization in the U.K., says on its websites that an ultrasound scan is the only way to confirm twins but that it won’t be confirmed until the 10-week mark.
“Ultrasound is almost foolproof at diagnosing twins, but the greater the number of babies, the less accurate it is at detecting how many babies there are,” it says.
Dr. Arthur Wisot, M.D. said that if Kate is pregnant with twins, it would make her nausea more severe.

“The major danger of carrying twins is premature delivery. Other possible complications include hypertension and pre-eclampsia.”
The Enquirer said that the couple “have genetics on their side for a multiple pregnancy,” citing twins from William’s maternal uncle Charles Spencer, and the fact that Kate’s paternal grandmother had a twin sister and her father Michael had twin great aunts.
Celeb Dirty Laundry adds that the claim seems to have some merit because people “could already see Kate’s tiny baby bump” earlier this month. “Generally you can’t tell someone is even expecting when they are 8-10 weeks pregnant, unless they are expecting twins,” it added.
Apparently, after earlier reports that the couple would name a baby girl Elizabeth or Margaret, the couple would use both names if they had twin girls.
No male names have been mentioned as of yet.
