Kate Middleton is looking to buy a new dog for her brother-in-law Prince Harry, according to a new report.
Harry is a longtime dog lover but is one of the few royals who does not have one of his own. Kate and husband Prince William, for instance, have a cocker spaniel.
Harry was rumored to be receiving a dog for his birthday earlier this year from Prince Charles but that didn’t appear to pan out.
But now insiders say that the Duchess of Cambridge has been making inquiries about buying a yellow Labrador for Harry as her and William’s Christmas present to him.
Kate found out about a litter that’s due at the end of Novemebr through Drakeshead, a highly esteemed breeding and training organization.
Kate’s goal to get Harry a dog is no secret--sources told the Daily Mail that Harry will go look at the puppies once they’re born and choose his own to take back to his home at Kensinhton Palace.
“Kate knows how much Harry loves Lupo, and how much joy he brings him, so it makes sense he should have his own puppy,” a source said, referring to Kate and William’s dog.
“Apparently she is willing to look after the dog if Harry has to go abroad for Royal duties or with the Army.”
The birthday present idea was scuttled because Christmas looked like it would work better, the source said.
“Kate and William worry that Harry gets lonely living on his own, so a pet puppy would be a great solution,” it added.
Meanwhile, Kate’s parents Carole and Michael Middleton recently said in a blog post that they enjoy celebrating the American holiday of Thanksgiving.
“We love the sentiment behind this late autumn holiday which has in modern times become synonymous with spending precious time with friends and family to give thanks over a meal,” they said.
The couple offered suggestions to people planning parties for the occasion, including serving cocktails before the meal, and using cloth and partyware with turkeys and pumpkins on them.
