Kate Middleton and her husband Prince William helped raise over $2 million for their alma mater St. Andrews in Scotland while visiting New York City.
The royal couple were the stars of a 600th anniversary fundraiser at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on their last evening in the city.
450 guests paid between $2,500 and $10,000 for a ticket for the dinner, meaning well over $2 million was raised, reported the Daily Beast.
The money raised will fund new sports facilities at the university in addition to bringing children from poorer backgrounds into the hold through scholarships.
The Duchess arrived wearing a Jenny Packham silk dress, donning it for the third time in about a year. She wrote it at a hedge funds dinner in October 2013, then again for an event at the National Portrait Gallery in April 2014.
She was not quoted in any publications but some of William’s comments were alluding to how the couple met while studying at the school.
“I don’t need to tell you how much St Andrews means to me and Catherine. By joining us here this evening you are supporting a remarkable independent institution,” he said.
After the event, which was attended by Princess Eugenie, Mary-Kate Olsen, and Anna Wintour, among others, Kate and William were whisked to John F. Kennedy Airport to fly back home.
