If you’ve got kids watching TV, you’ve got kids watching junk food ads. Companies spend billions of dollars promoting sweet cereals, soda, and fast food to the most impressionable viewers. Help steer your kids away from all the unhealthy marketing.

First, try to avoid the ads. Watch DVD instead. Also, watch websites kids visit, since some popular gaming sites are really entertaining commercials.
Next, identify those adds. When you watch TV or play online with your kids, let them know that goal of this is to sell something.

Finally, talk about the star factor. Lots of companies what they product to appear cool.

While many food marketers are starting to be make effort to be more responsible in their marketing, packaging and ingredients, it’s still important to talk to your kids about which of these efforts produce genuinely healthy results.
