Joe Rogan, the UFC commentator and comedian, did not kill a mountain lion at a California country club.
A fake article saying he did was published on Empire Sports, a self-described “satire” website.
“News out of California never really shocks me anymore, but when the report surfaced about stand up comedian Joe Rogan killing a mountain lion, I was in disbelief. Rogan, who also does commentary for the UFC and is a black belt Jiu Jitsu fighter, was injured only slightly in the bizarre confrontation with the wild animal. Mr. Rogan was taken to a local hospital but released very shortly after wards (sic),” the article reads.
According to a disclaimer, Empire Sports doesn’t publish real news.
“Empire Sports is a satirical and entertainment website,” the disclaimer says. “Empire Sports uses invented names in all its stories, except in cases when public figures are being satirized. Any other use of real names is accidental and coincidental.”
A few weeks ago, the same website said that Rogan was “suspended” by the UFC after he failed a drug test. That article also isn’t true.
Rogan is expect to be the commentator along with Mike Goldberg for UFC 173 in two weeks, which will put bantamweight champ Renan Barao against challenger TJ Dillashaw.
