Jim Boylan fired: Boylan was fired after Milwaukee Bucks were swept out of playoffs.

The Bucks lost all four games in the first-round series by 10 or more points.

“At this time we feel it’s in the best interest of the organization to seek a new coach to lead our team,” said John Hammond, the general manager, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “We appreciate Jim’s efforts not only in his time as head coach but in his entire tenure as a coach in Milwaukee.”

The Sentinel reached Boylan by phone after the news broke.

Boylan said: “The bottom line was I didn’t do good enough.”

Though the team reached the playoffs, one of Boylan’s goals, they had a pretty bad April, going 3-7 in the regular season before losing the series to the Heat.

“Not unlike many teams, there always are contract issues and personalities to deal with,” Boylan said. “It was not an easy group. But as coach it was my job to try to handle that.”

“As an interim coach my hands were tied a little bit. But I don’t want to play the blame game. I only want to point fingers at myself.”

Boylan took over as interim coach on Jan. 8, after being the lead assistant coach for the past four seasons. The Bucks went 22-28 under Boylan and earned the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference.
