Defending Grand Am Rolex 24 at Daytona GT champions The Racers’ Group has signed Dutch driver Jeroen Bleekemolen to join an already potent driver team in the No. 67 TRG Porsche 997 GT3.
Bleekemolen has a host of titles to his name; he is a two-time Porsche Supercup champion and two-time American Le Mans Series GTC champion with win in LMP2 at the 2008 Le Mans 24 Hours. 2012 will be the 30-year-old Dutch driver’s third Rolex 24.
Bleekemolen joins defending 2011 Rolex winners Steve Bertheau and Spencer Pumpelly Porsche factory driver Wolf Henzler, and sportscar and prototype champion Marc Goossens in the No. 67 TRG Porsche, the car which won in 2011.
“We are very excited to add Jeroen to our team.” said TRG team owner Kevin Buckler on the TRG website. “We spent much of 2011 battling against him, and to now add him to our lineup for our defending car is really special.
“I consider him, Spencer and Wolf part of a very small and elite group of 911 assassins---probably some of the best in the world—and now they are in the same car. He will fit right in with our guys here. We look forward to having everyone together later this week at the Roar!”
TRG is bringing five cars to the 50th Anniversary Rolex 24 at Daytona—Buckler doesn’t want to take any chances of not winning the historic race.
TRG’s Porsche armada will be testing at Daytona International Speedway during the Roar Before the 24, Jan. 6–8. The 50th running of The 2012 Rolex 24 at Daytona starts 3:30 p.m. Jan 28.
