The Houston Texans have released quarterback Kellen Clemens and, according to a report on the NFL’s website, the team will sign 41-year-old quarterback Jeff Garcia. The report cites the Houston Chronicle as breaking the news though the team had made no formal announcement regarding Garcia as of Tuesday evening.
Garcia, who didn’t start his NFL career until he broke in with San Francisco in 1999 at age 29, hasn’t attempted a pass in a game since 2008 when he was with Tampa Bay. The journeyman signal-caller played for five different teams in his career and was selected to four Pro Bowls (2000-02, and ‘07).
Clemens was signed November 23rd by Houston after starter Matt Schaub went on the injured reserve. Clemens previously was with the Jets for five seasons.
