In a recent interview with Bloomberg Politics, Jeff Daniels, who played ACN anchor Will McAvoy on Aaron Sorkin’s “The Newsroom,” was asked about the presidential candidates Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton—his response took many people down memory lane.
When hosts Mark Halperin and John Heilemann asked Daniels, “What makes Trump the best-case scenario for Hillary Clinton?” he answered them by reprising his famous monologue at the opening scene from The Newsroom.

“He’s not the best-case scenario, John, that’s my answer. Donald Trump is a fact-bending loose cannon who alienates mainstream voters with everything he says. But he gets constant media attention for free. There won’t be a day from now until November when Trump isn’t on every TV channel,” Daniels said.
“And with a straight face, you’re going to tell me that electing a female president is unprecedented?” he asked the hosts.
He further went on to say, “There’s absolutely no evidence that Trump is the best-case scenario for Hillary Clinton. 38 percent of the people gave her a favorable rating. 30 percent of the people said she’s honest and trustworthy. Just 22 percent of Democrats say they’re enthusiastic about her being the nominee.”
He said Clinton has more of an advantage in categories like “millennials who don’t even show up to vote,” adding, “She also leads in number messages deleted on her personal email server.”
The ending of Daniel’s response, however, was very Will McAvoy: “So when you ask, ‘what makes Trump the best-case scenario for Hillary?’ I don’t know what the (expletive) you’re talking about. His tiny hands?”
