Jasleen, a baby weighing 13 pounds and four ounces, was born naturally in Leipzig, Germany, reports on Tuesday said.

The child, who is 22.6 inches long, is the largest baby to have ever been born in Germany, according to the New York Daily News. She was delivered without the help of a C-section.

Doctors said the child’s size was caused by the mother contracting gestational diabetes, which was not diagnosed until later, reported Der Spiegel.

Officials said the mother and Jasleen, who was born at the University of Leipzig, are doing fine.

The Daily Mail says that the largest baby ever born was around 22 pounds, delivered by Canadian woman Anna Bates in 1879, according to the Guinness Book of World Records. However, it was discovered that Bates suffered from gigantism as she was 7 feet 5 inches. The child died 12 hours later.

The heaviest baby born to a healthy mother was a boy--who weighed 22 pounds and 8 ounces--in Italy in 1955, according to UPI.

Earlier this month, Pittsburgh woman Michelle Cessna gave birth to a child weighing in at 13 pounds and 12 ounces, said the Huffington Post.
