NEW YORK—The 1964 Aston Martin DB5 used in the James Bond films Goldfinger and Thunderball will be offered at Sotheby’s “Automobiles of London” auction to be held in London on Oct. 27.

The DB5, displayed for preview at Sotheby’s New York on Sept. 14, is one of two that remain of the tricked-out movie cars that Sean Connery drove in the 1960s classic films. The other DB5 was reported stolen in 1997 and is believed to have been destroyed, according to a press release from Sotheby’s.

The DB5 car that is up for auction still retains all of its original gadgets, including front-mounted machine guns, a bullet-proof windshield, revolving license plates, oil-slick sprayer, nail spreader, and smoke screen—all controlled by toggle switches in the center armrest.

The automobile has made only two public appearances over the past 30 years and has been stored by its owner, Jerry Lee. Proceeds from the auction will benefit The Jerry Lee Foundation, a multi-national initiative dedicated to solving social problems associated with poverty and crime.
