Jack Nicholson has retired from acting, a source told an entertainment news agency.

“Jack has — without fanfare — retired,” a source told Radar Online.

“There is a simple reason behind his decision — it’s memory loss. Quite frankly, at 76, Jack has memory issues and can no longer remember the lines being asked of him. His memory isn’t what it used to be.”

Nicholson is a prolific actor who has appeared in dozens of films, including “The Shining”, “Five Easy Pieces”, and the 1989 version of “Batman.”

Nicholson is 76 years old. His last film was in 2010, titled “How Do You Know.”

Nicholson will remain “in the limelight,” according to the source. He will continue to go to parties and go to Los Angeles Lakers games.

“He’s not retiring from public life, at all. He just doesn’t want a tribute,” added the insider. “He’s happy to tacitly join the retirees club like Sean Connery.”
