Former NBA guard Allen Iverson has signed a one-month contract to play in a regional basketball league in the Dominican Republic, according to a report on the NBA’s website.
According to the report, Pueblo Nuevo club President Milton Nunez told The Associated Press on Thursday that Iverson will arrive on Sunday and play that same day in a game against GUG in Santiago Province. Nunez did not disclose how much he'll be paid.
The 36-year-old Iverson last played in the NBA in 2010 with Philadelphia, his second stint with the Sixers. Iverson then spent part of that year playing in Turkey.
The 6-foot guard was named league MVP in 2001 when he led Philadelphia to the NBA Finals. A four-time scoring champ, Iverson also led the league in steals three straight years (2001–2003) and led the league in minutes played per game seven times in his 14-year career.
