India Q&A: “How has the falling Indian rupee impacted you?”
Zenisha Gonsalves, 19, Student, Goa: The fall of the rupee has affected my hometown, Goa, rather interestingly. While the state suffers huge monetary losses due to the recent shutting-down of the mines, the fall of the rupee has prompted a massive increase in foreign tourism – a much-needed boost to the local economy. Three years from now, when I apply to grad schools in either the UK or the USA – most of which already have exorbitant fee rates for international students – I can only hope that the rupee has redeemed itself.
