Hurricane Danielle has weakened to a Category 2 storm on Saturday with its maximum sustained winds at 110 mph (175 km/h), a new National Hurricane Center advisory reported.

Hurricane Danielle is currently located at about 325 miles east-southeast of Bermuda and moving north-northeast at 9 mph. Danielle is expected to pass well east of Bermuda Saturday night.

The center predicted that Danielle would turn northeastward on Monday.

Danielle reached Category 4 early Friday morning before it started to weaken early Saturday morning. Danielle is expected to further weaken.

A Category 2 storm on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale could bring extremely dangerous winds that can cause extensive damage, according to the center.

Later on Saturday, U.S. East Coast will experience swells from Danielle, and Bermuda could experience tropical storm-force winds. Over the next few days, the islands will see large waves and dangerous surf conditions.

“It is looking less likely that Danielle will send any squally showers our way now, though there will be a few showers this evening as a weak cold front passes from our northwest,” reads a Bermuda Weather Service forecast. “A ridge of high pressure will build in from the northwest on Sunday, bringing mainly fair and settled conditions for the start of the work week.”
