Hulk Hogan sat with the women of “The View” and relayed a message he wants the world to know—he is not racist.

Hogan who recently claimed victory in a lawsuit with Gawker over the invasion of his privacy with the release of his sex tape with Heather Clem, the wife of his former best friend, Bubba the Love Sponge. Hogan answered to claims of his possibly being a racist after he was heard on said tape using derogatory language.

“You used the n-word several times and even called yourself a racist,” said panelist and lawyer Sunny Hostin. “What do you have to say about that?” Hostin has been a major voice in the social justice movement for African Americans.

Hogan, real name Henry Bollea, responded with, “It’s probably the stupidest thing I ever said,“ then continued, ”The people who know me know I’m not a racist.”

The retired wrestler made the comment in question when discussing his daughter, Brooke’s relationship status.

To further defend himself, Hogan gave several examples of why he cannot be a racist. According to Hogan, he attends a predominantly African American church and is good friends with other African Americans.

Despite being cut from the WWE for his transgressions, Hogan understood the only reason he was let go was for business reasons. “Even the WWE knows I am not a racist.”

Hogan expressed that he understands the impact his words have had for himself and his family.

“I said something horrible. I live with it forever. That’s not me. That’s not who I am.”
