When it’s time for a new kitchen faucet and sink, or if you’re looking to upgrade your kitchen, choosing a new faucet can seem daunting.
Faucets are ultra-practical, but they also serve as important aesthetic features. From old fashioned to ultra-modern designs, and with a number of various finishes and features, it can be difficult to know which one to choose.
When choosing a faucet, it’s important to consider both the practical aspects as well as the aesthetical impact that the faucet will have on the overall feel of the room. Keeping these two things in mind will make it easier to rule out unsuitable options, and will make it easier for you to choose a faucet that’s right for your kitchen.
Practical Considerations
It’s important to choose a faucet that will work well. And one that will hold up after years of use. While many faucets have two handles, it’s important to note that some people find two handles impractical. Single-lever is easier for many. Also consider a spray arm, which makes it easier to fill up pots with water, or rinse the sink. Also consider durability, as well as the clean-up factor. While brass looks nice, it’s often better suited for low-use areas. Chrome, nickel, pewter, or bronze are all durable options for a kitchen.
Design Details
Make sure the design of the faucet will fit in with the rest of the kitchen, complimenting the overall design. Also keep in mind that since finishes vary between different manufacturers, you may also want to purchase the spray arm or soap dispenser from the same company to ensure that they match.
