How to Help Oklahoma Tornado Victims

Residents of Moore and Shawnee, Okla., sort through the rubble left in the wake of tornadoes that hit the region Sunday and Monday. Authorities wrap up their search and rescue operations. Relief efforts support a battered community.

Here are some ways to help those efforts:

Samaritan’s Purse

Volunteer in Oklahoma by contacting Samaritan’s Purse. Donate online, by phone 1-800-528-3000, or by check to Samaritan’s Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607-3000.

Team Rubicon

Donate or start a fund-raising Webpage through Team Rubicon online. Team Rubicon deploys military veterans to help with disaster relief.

American Red Cross

Donate online, by phone 1-800-733-2767, or text REDCROSS to 90999 to give $10 to American Red Cross Disaster Relief.

Operation USA

Donate by phone at 1-800-678-7255, by check made out to Operation USA, 7421 Beverly Blvd., Los Angeles, CA, 90036, or text AID to 50555 and donate $10 to Operation USA’s disaster relief efforts. 

Salvation Army

Donate online, by phone 1-800-SAL-ARMY, by check made out to The Salvation Army Disaster Relief, P.O. Box 2536, Oklahoma City, OK, 73102 (designate “Oklahoma Tornado Relief” on all checks), or text STORM to 80888 to contribute $10 to the Salvation Army’s relief efforts.

AmeriCares

Donate to the AmeriCares U.S. Disaster Relief Fund online.

Save the Children

Donate online, or text TWISTER to 20222 to donate $10. Save the Children aims to create a safe environment for displaced children and to provide babies and toddlers with hygiene materials.

RYOT

RYOT is covering all processing fees so every cent goes to victims through its Oklahoma Tornado Victims Fund. It supports local organizations and shelters to provide aid. Donate online.

Feed the Children

Donate online, by phone 1-800-627-4556, or text DISASTER to 80888 to make a $10 donation. After receiving a confirmation message, you must type “yes” to complete the donation.
