Alaskan inspired décor can be a great design choice. Alaska’s unspoiled landscape and stunning natural beauty provides inspiration that can lead to some stunning décor choices.

If you’re looking for a design style that’s rustic and outdoorsy, Alaskan-inspired design is a great option. Alaska décor includes plenty of natural details –including varnished wood, granite, roughhewn boards, and a side of earth tones to keep things fresh and alive.

Let’s look at a few ways that you can draw inspiration from the “Last Frontier,” and use some defining characteristics of this great land to add a fresh, natural, and open feel to your home.

Décor: Rustic Simplicity

Natural details are a must for an Alaska-inspired living space. Driftwood light fixtures, or hurricane lamps can help bring the wild outdoors into your home. Don’t forget plaid pillows and throws to add some extra rustic charm to your space. Think rustic inspiration, and look for ways to recreate the feel of an Alaskan hunting lodge. Bear or fish wrought iron sculptures would also be at home in an Alaskan-inspired room.

Style: Rugged and Untamed

From the beautiful islands in Southeast Alaska, to the white, frozen tundra plains of the north –Alaska is both spectacular and rugged. Use some of the untamed wilderness as inspiration to incorporate into your design scheme.

Colors: Bold, Natural, and Earthy

Colors that are reflective of Alaska include white, charcoal, and plenty of rich, earthy colors to tie it all together. Take inspiration from Alaska’s miles of unspoiled forests and seas, and incorporate some vibrant greens and blues into your decor. Alaska is home to a truly diverse range of nature and wildlife. By adding a hint of this décor into your home, you'll be able to create a feel that’s both natural, and effortlessly grand. Here are a few pieces that would look fantastic in an Alaska-inspired home.
