The House of Representatives on Wednesday passed a vote to drop a resolution to impeach President Donald Trump.
The House vote came to 332-95 to set aside the impeachment measure. Every Republican voted against the call to impeach.
Following the vote, Trump wrote to Twitter: “The United States House of Representatives has just overwhelmingly voted to kill the Resolution on Impeachment, 332-95-1.
“This is perhaps the most ridiculous and time consuming project I have ever had to work on. Impeachment of your President, who has led the Greatest Economic BOOM in the history of our Country, the best job numbers, biggest tax reduction, rebuilt military and much more, is now OVER.
“This should never be allowed to happen to another President of the United States again!”
This is the third time that Green has brought an impeachment resolution against the president. He had failed twice before to get an impeachment resolution passed.
“There’s a lot of grief from a lot of different quarters,” Green said after the vote. “But sometimes you just have to take a stand.”
Green had cited Trump’s comments regarding four Democratic congresswomen that implored them to go back to their native countries.
Green’s resolution said that Trump is “unfit to be President, unfit to represent the American values of decency and morality, respectability and civility, honesty and propriety, reputability and integrity, is unfit to defend the ideals that have made America great, unfit to defend liberty and justice for all.”
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., who voted against impeachment told reporters that she was waiting on additional evidence from the six House committees that are investigating Trump before moving forward with efforts to oust him.
Earlier Trump Tweets
Trump’s comments on Twitter on July 14 were directed at Democratic Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), and Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.), known collectively as the “squad.”He wrote the following on July 14: “So interesting to see ‘Progressive’ Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run.”
“Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how it is done. These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough. I’m sure that Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements!” he added.
All are American and all but Omar were born in the U.S. They’ve been among the Democratic party’s most outspoken advocates for impeaching the president.
After Democrats described his tweets as “racist,” Trump turned down demands to apologize for his comments and continued to criticize the furthest-left Democrats, including Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.).
“Those Tweets were NOT Racist. I don’t have a Racist bone in my body! The so-called vote to be taken is a Democrat con game. Republicans should not show ‘weakness’ and fall into their trap,” he wrote on Twitter.
“This should be a vote on the filthy language, statements and lies told by the Democrat Congresswomen, who I truly believe, based on their actions, hate our Country. Get a list of the HORRIBLE things they have said. Omar is polling at 8%, Cortez at 21%. Nancy Pelosi tried to push them away, but now they are forever wedded to the Democrat Party. See you in 2020!”
