Hope Solo Photos: Soccer Star Slams Culprits

Hope Solo has responded to lewd photos of her that were leaked in the past week.

In confirming the photos are of her, Solo said, “It is extremely sad and unfortunate that the rights of so many women were violated by the unauthorized release of private photographs.”

She added, “This act goes beyond the bounds of human decency and, as such, I stand united with all the women affected and am exploring every option to protect my privacy,” according to the Independent.

Solo’s photos--along with photos of Meagan Good and Gabrielle Union--were leaked over the weekend as part of the same hacking initiative that leaked photos of Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Upton.

On the Fappening subreddit, there was apparently a new photos being passed around.

Amid the photo leaks, Solo’s domestic violence case was touched upon by U.S. Olympic Committee chief executive officer Scott Blackmun.

“Abuse in all forms is unacceptable,” he told USA Today this week. “The allegations involving Ms. Solo are disturbing and are inconsistent with our expectations of Olympians. We have had discussions with U.S. Soccer and fully expect them to take action if it is determined that the allegations are true.”

Blackmun said he’s not calling on the US soccer team to remove Solo, the goalkeeper, from international play.

Solo returned to play last week. She’s awaiting trial for allegedly attacking her 17-year-old nephew and sister in June.

In an editorial, the New York Times said the sport is “turning a blind eye on domestic violence.”

“Ah, to be a strong and successful role model, especially for the next generation, and to have the honor to represent your country,” columnist Julian Macur said. “But look past the patina of glee and here’s what you will see: a team and a league – not named the N.F.L. this time – that are tone-deaf when it comes to domestic violence and how they handle players who have been accused of it.”
