With today being Friday, it can only mean one thing. It’s How-To-Video Friday!! How-To-Video Friday is when I release one of the interior design videos that I have created for the go-to site eHow. There are more than 75 of them so don’t worry we are likely to stumble upon your favorite topic. This Friday we are talking about Art Deco in the 1920’s, shot on location at Kark Kemp Antiques which is one of the key sources in New York City.

A 1920’s Scrolled Piano Bench

This piece may not necessarily have been used at a piano, but it is a piece that would have been used at that time. I just want to point out some of the distinctive details here such as the scrolled ends and the tasseled detail. That type of detail that you see here on the ends is very distinctive of the art deco period of the 1920s and really make this bench special. Screenshot 2014-06-27 09.35.27

This is one of my favorite pieces when we talk about the 1920s because it just has so many distinctive features that really speak to art deco. For example, the hardware; this is nickle bronze hardware, very sculptural, very architectural in the way it looks and the way it feels. Then you have this gorgeous porto-marble top. You just don’t see this type of marble anymore. Screenshot 2014-06-27 09.36.01

1920’s Cobalt Glass Bowl

When it comes to decorating your home, don’t just think about furniture pieces, accessorize. And what better way to bring art deco from the 1920s into your home than with an accessory. This cobalt glass bowl was made by a company called Muller Freres and is very distinctive of the time.Take a look at all the detail, the indigo glass, it really is quite beautiful! 1920’s Campaign Table
