Diamonds are a girls’s best friend, and American Hollywood stars tend to have very big best friends. 

Examples include a 4-carat engagement ring given to Oscar-winning actress, Reese Witherspoon, by Jim Toth, in 2011. Kate Hudson also landed a 9-carat gem in 2011 from singer Matt Bellamy, according to US Weekly.

There are even larger gemstones to be had. Here is a list of 10 Hollywood stars and their gigantic engagement rings by size.

From the smallest to the largest rock:

The smallest on the list is a million dollar large 14-carat engagement sparkler given to singer and actress Hilary Duff from NHL player, Mike Comrie, in 2010, according to US Weekly.

Actress Angelina Jolie’s elegant and huge 16-carat million dollar diamond engagement ring came eight years (in 2012) into her relationship with another Academy Award-winning movie star, Brad Pitt, according to Elle. Their wedding date is not set, as far as mortals know.

Rare is the $2.5 million 17-carat emerald-cut pink engagement rock of superstar singer and actress, Mariah Carey, from her second husband to be in 2008, Nick Cannon, a famous rapper, T.V actor, and radio personality, according to US Weekly.

The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea star, Jessica Biel was proposed to on top a mountain by singer and actor Justin Timberlake. The ring is a stunningly huge 18-karat white gold and black rhodium, according to Elle.

Beyoncé, R&B and pop singer, writer and actress, was proposed to by famous rapper, Jay-Z, with an amazing 18-carat emerald-cut, according to Elle. This lovely engagement ring is valued at $5 million, according to US Magazine Weekly. They married in 2008.

A whopping 20-carat diamond engagement ring was bestowed upon Lisa Vanderpump by Kenneth Todd, restauranteur, as an upgrade to his 1984 engagement ring to her, according to US Weekly. She is best known for The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (2010), Vanderpump Rules (2013) and Dancing with the Stars.

No Kardashian can go unnoticed. Reality T.V. star, Kim Kardashian was smitten with a $ 2 million 20.5-carat engagement ring given to her by NBA player Kris Humphries, according to US Weekly. Their 2011 marriage lasted 72 days. She kept the ring.

Movie star, Elizabeth Taylor, was known for her talent and her fabulous jewelry from six of her seven husbands. Her biggest engagement rock was a 29.4 carat emerald from third husband Mike Todd in 1956. During their short marriage which ended with his death in 1958 in a plane crash, Todd knew how to treat Liz to jewelry. He gave her an antique tiara, and a ruby and diamond necklace, earrings and bracelet set, valued at $500,000, according to Gems about Jewels blog.

Top box office movie star, Joan Crawford’s love of sapphires was indulged by her second of four husbands, Franchot Tone. His engagement ring was a super-sized beautiful 70-carat cabochon sapphire ring. She wore it awith a 72-carat emerald-cut sapphire, according to the Natural Sapphire Company. Her career started in the 1920s and ended in the 1970s upon her death.

Beloved movie star, Jean Harlow, had the number one enormous rock, an 150-carat cabochon sapphire engagement ring from William Powell, according to the Natural Sapphire Company. Her fiancée was an Academy Award-winning movie star of the 1920s-1950s. Harlow was known as the first blonde bombshell, with her platinum blonde hair and one liners such as “Would you be shocked if I changed into something more comfortable?” in “Hell’s Angels” (1930). She lived hard and tragically, completing 26 films, and marrying three times  in a decade. She became engaged to Powell but died of kidney failure at age 26, according to Turner Classics.
