Texas third baseman Adrian Beltre took home the American League Player of the Week Award Monday after becoming just the second player in baseball history to have a three-home run game and also hitting for the cycle in the same week.
“It was about the best week I’ve ever seen,” manager Ron Washington said, according to the report on MLB’s website. “He just kept finding the fat part of his bat.”
On Wednesday Beltre pulled off the three-home run feat, which was followed by another home run on Thursday. Friday night saw the 33-year-old go 4-for-4 with a single, double, triple, and yet another home run.
For the week, he hit .433 with five home runs, seven runs scored and nine RBIs.
