Roger Clinton, the half-brother of former President Bill Clinton, was arrested in California for a DUI---just two days before his sister-in-law, Hillary Clinton, will stand in the state’s high-stakes primary.
CBS Los Angeles first reported on Clinton’s arrest.
The 59-year-old was arrested in Redondo Beach around 8 p.m. and is being held on $15,000 bail, jail records show. He is slated to appear in court on Monday.
NBC Los Angeles reported that a witness---a “concerned citizen”---called police to report a possible DUI driver on the Pacific Coast Highway.
The caller said the vehicle was traveling in an “erratic manner,” NBC LA reported. The driver followed the vehicle until police carried out a traffic stop at an intersection.
Roger Clinton has had run-ins with the law in the past. He was arrested for a DUI in 2001. Former President Clinton pardoned him in 2001 right before leaving the White House from a 1985 drug conviction for distributing cocaine.
The arrest comes as Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders are in a dead-heat over California, which has 548 delegates up for grabs. Clinton needs less than 30 delegates to win the Democratic nomination.
Roger Clinton’s antics apparently garnered him the nickname “headache” during President Clinton’s two terms. Roger, an actor and former singer, now lives in Torrance, California.
