An Illinois High School teacher has been hailed a hero after she subdued a student armed with a handgun on Wednesday, Sept. 20.

Late Wednesday morning, a male student started shooting in the cafeteria of Mattoon High School, according to local news outlet Journal Gazette & Times-Courier.
