On Sunday morning, a woman at a west Detroit gas station took a gun from her skirt and shot multiple people inside a car.

She was briskly detained thanks in part to Project Green Light, which helps local gas stations send high-definition surveillance footage directly to police stations via a live stream.

The footage captured a detailed view of the woman’s face.

Project Green Light currently has high-definition cameras installed in 11 locations in Detroit.

“Huge success, exactly what we had hoped for,” Detroit Police Sgt. Michael Woody told Fox 2. “We’re going to see you, and we’re going to see you clearly.”

The suspect was arrested 2 hours after the incident in a street near her home, after someone had recognized her. The footage was able to give the police a clear look at her face.

Project Green Light currently has high-definition cameras installed in 11 locations in Detroit, from gas stations to McDonald’s restaurants.

The cameras cost $5,000 for the business owners to install, and are advertised to potential criminals with large, colorful signs.
