The major hacking group Anonymous says that it has declared “total war” on ISIS following the deadly terror attacks in Paris.
Anonymous says it is going to hunt down every single member and support of the jihadist group.
The mission was announced in a YouTube video, where a spokesman dressed in the group’s symbol--a Guy Fawkes mask--said that the group is launching “the biggest operation ever” against the terrorists.
Pledging to use their skills to “unite humanity,” the group warned terrorists to “expect massive cyber attacks.”
“Anonymous from all over the world will hunt you down,” the spokesman said. “You should know that we will find you and we will not let you go.”
“War is declared. Get prepared,” the group said in the video post. “The French people are stronger than you and will come out of this atrocity even stronger.”
The group started focusing on ISIS following the Charlie Hebdo massacre in January, and has dismantled some 149 ISIS-linked websites, according to Foreign Policy.
Hacktavists also say they’ve flagged roughly 101,000 Twitter accounts and 5,900 YouTube videos.
Anonymous recently revealed to Epoch Times that it was able to uncover information on ISIS hackers part of the so-called “CyberCaliphate.”
The ISIS hackers operate with a number of Twitter accounts, each with different names. They post on average every 10 minutes, suggesting the hackers are working full-time on the propaganda and hacking efforts.
The ISIS accounts last about eight hours before they’re suspended by Twitter, and after about 10 suspensions, Anonymous member JhonJoe said “they disappear for a few weeks, only to re-emerge.”
Anonymous previously told Epoch Times it had tricked ISIS online recruiters into revealing their home addresses, which indicated most are based in Kuwait, Iraq, Turkey, and Indonesia.
