According to China News Radio, China’s Health Ministry claimed that a man was suspected to have died from a H5N1 virus, samples have been sent to the National Laboratories for testing and the results should be out within the next few days.
China’s Ministry of Health spokesperson said there was no evidence of the infected man having been in contact with live domestic poultry, but he has lived for a long period of time near a chicken slaughter house. However, those who were responsible for slaughtering the chickens did not appear to have any signs of the symptoms, or are infected.
The spokesperson for the Health Ministry also said that as it is unclear as to how the deceased man got infected and also as they cannot confirm if he was infected with the H5N1 virus, at this early stage, there is no need for mass killing of the birds or to restrict the movements of live domestic poultry.
