Griselde Camacho Dead: Hunter College Cop ID'ed as One of East Harlem Explosion Victims

Sgt. Griselde Camacho, a public security officer with Hunter College, has been named as one of the two people confirmed dead after the explosion today in East Harlem in new York City.

Officials said that Camacho worked at the college’s School of Public Health.

The gas explosion caused two buildings to collapse in Manhattan on Wednesday, injuring 69 and killing Camacho and another.

An additional 10 people are missing as of 6:20 p.m.

Camacho’s mother was hospitalized as well, the dean of the school said in a statement. 

“The death of Sargeant Griselde Camacho in the building collapse in East Harlem, and the hospitalization of her mother brings, great sadness to all of us,” Ayman El-Mohandes said.

“My sincere condolences go out to her family and to all of you who knew her and loved her.”
