“The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2009,” Barbara Walters’ upcoming TV special, has Michael Jackson ’s three children, reality TV mom of eight Kate Gosselin, and former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin at the top of the list.

The ABC-TV journalist is also going to spotlight shock-pop stars Lady Gaga and Adam Lambert, filmmaker Tyler Perry, right-wing TV pundit Glenn Beck, NFL quarterback Brett Favre, and South Carolina governor’s spurned wife Jenny Sanford in her annual television special next week.

Dance Authority Twyla Tharp Gives Collaborations Lessons

Choreographer Twyla Tharp’s new book is more than just tips for the dance industry, revealing a broader wisdom about success in the workforce. The key, she explains, is that collaboration is critical in the workplace.

Tharp’s list of achievements, according to Reuters, include 2003 Tony Award for Broadway’s “Movin' Out.” She choreographed “Push Comes to Shove” for Baryshnikov at the American Ballet Theater and created dances for director Milos Forman’s movie versions of “Hair,” “Ragtime,” and “Amadeus.”

“The Collaborative Habit” uses her experience revolving around dance but applies to the broader world of work, and follows her book, “The Creative Habit,” on how to survive as a solitary artist.

‘Up in the Air’ Wins Awards

Director Jason Reitman’s “Up in the Air” has been named best film of 2009 by the National Board of Review, becoming the first major award of Hollywood’s Oscar season.

Clint Eastwood’s “Invictus” scored him best director.

Best actors and actresses have also been named. “Up in the Air” star George Clooney and “Invictus” star Morgan Freeman shared the prize for best actor, and Carey Mulligan won best actress for her role in “An Education.”

Getting these awards and others like the Golden Globes offer prestige for filmmakers and actors that help promote their films ahead of the Academy Awards on March 7, 2010.
