Singer and husband of Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, has become a minority owner of the Miami Dolphins football team. In a conference call with reporters, Anthony said, “It’s just a dream come true, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and a no-brainer.” The singer joins musicians Jimmy Buffet and Gloria Estefan in his association with the Florida team.

Hall & Oates Singer Finds Humor in His Mustache

John Oates, the once-mustached half of the 80s pop duo, Hall & Oates, is starring alongside his mustache in a new cartoon, “J-stache.” The singer shaved his iconic facial accessory years ago in a symbolic attempt to move on from the band. “J-stache” features Oates, himself, in animation alongside his mustache (voiced by comedian Dave Attell) – who entices the singer away from family life and back to his rock star roots. The series premiered on the comedy Web site funnyordie.com.

Comic-Con Held in San Diego

Enthusiastic fans and celebrities alike descended on San Diego’s 2009 Comic-Con International this week. The legendary event, which was originally established as a comic book convention, celebrates works of a variety of genres including video games, animation, toys, fantasy novels, Web comics, movies, and more. In recent years Comic-Con has been seen as a viable marketing platform for a variety of Hollywood franchises. Notable names at this year’s event included Seth Rogan, Jennifer Connolly, Wes Craven, Rainn Wilson, Kevin Smith, Hayden Panettiere, and Jon Favreau.

Actress and UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie visited a settlement for displaced Iraqi’s in Baghdad on Thursday. Jolie met with a number of families in need. She was quoted saying, “This is a moment where things seem to be improving on the ground, but Iraqis need a lot of support and help to rebuild their lives.”

Eric Clapton, U2, and Others to Celebrate Hall of Fame Anniversary

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will celebrate its 25th anniversary with two concerts at Madison Square Garden this October. The shows will look back at the history of rock and roll and feature big names, including Aretha Franklin, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Simon and Garfunkel, U2, Eric Clapton, and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Friends. Proceeds from the shows will benefit a permanent endowment for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation and Museum.
